DJ Tunez is an artist, musician, and producer from Brooklyn, New York...
His musical exposure started from listening to his father’s vast collection of Afro music. From the beginning, he was captivated by the effect music had on people, as well as the different emotions it evoked. Brought up in a household with both African and Caribbean influences, he was exposed to a multitude of musical genres.
"His early music education followed a pattern he recalls as "everything African at home, everything else outside." He learned to speak the Nigerian language Yoruba by listening to his father's King Sunny Ade records, and when his parents sent him to boarding school in Africa, he caught up with the new sound coming out of their home country." DJ Tunez is aware of the responsibilities that come with being a gatekeeper of music. At just 28, he looks at the weight of his work, which extends far beyond the four walls of wherever he is spinning music, or track he his making.
Written by Ayo O. Tunde Adeyinka is taking the world by storm and shaping music to his own "tunez." Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Tunde was sent to his roots in Nigeria near the onset of his teenage years, and we all know what that means.
DJ Tunez's live sets are engineered to make your body move. During a given performance, one might hear the newest in rap, or the exact right R&B classic. But the foundation of his sets, and what the people come for, is African music.
When you hear a Sarz beat, it's hard to keep your body from jumping up and dancing along. The Nigerian producer builds sounds for some of your favorite african pop artists - a longtime collaborator of Wizkid's, he's the mind behind this year's sultry mega-hit "Come Closer" featuring Drake.
